Ever been infected by a cold or the flu? Wondered who made you sick? Come find out how mathematics helps one to track diseases. But be warned you might get infected!

Art Lab

Let’s investigate pig hearts (very similar to human hearts) by using art! By dissecting, drawing/sketching, and asking good questions, we can come to understand the heart’s structure and how it works! The same process can be used to investigate anything in nature (or from the supermarket!). Everyone will get their own pig heart to investigate and draw/paint in the lab.

Challenger Space Mission

What is it like to be an astronaut? Join the Challenger space crew and run a simulated space mission and see if your team can meet the challenge. Experience both the working aspects of an astronaut in the spacecraft and the supporting role of Mission Control during this flight. Crew members must be prepared to work with technology like computers, probeware, or robotics in order to accomplish their mission goals.

Do you realize you can create some super cool creations using your math knowledge and some basic materials? You’ll have fun creating a cube that you can take home with you. Your cube can be a secret box, a gift box, or anything you desire.

Through the construction and testing of model kinetic energy cars, you will examine Newton’s Laws of Motion. Consideration will also be given as to how to improve on the performance of the models through STEM and the engineering design process.

Well here is your chance to run an atomic force microscope right here at the MSiC and see for yourself what happens at the very tip of an atom! Using Remote Access Instrumentation for Nanotechnology, you will be that scientist at the cutting edge of science!
